I am experiencing a problem with the vehicle's acceleration from a stop which is worsening over time. I bought the vehicle new in September 2017. I routinely experience a severe lag in acceleration from a stop, causing jerky movements and sometimes unintended acceleration. I do not feel as if the vehicle is safe to drive on a daily basis. I have had the car looked at by Hyundai technicians in my local dealership's service department. They have reported that there are no issues they can identify and the car is operating as it was built to. I have expressed my concerns about the vehicle's safety and they have told me to contact Hyundai's Consumer Affairs department. I have initiated a ticket with Consumer Affairs.

The 2017 Tucson sport has the 1.6 turbo with the dual clutch transmission. When pulling out into traffic, one never knows if the car will respond to the gas pedal and accelerate or just stumble along. This is a known problem, and there is a recall or similar for the 2016 with NHTSA. The dealership (kearny mesa Hyundai, san diego) tells us that "they all do that" when we took it in for safety concerns and repair. Any subsequent requests for repair were met with "it will cost you 150 dollars to check it out if it's the same situation as before with no solution". this car is a danger to us and others on the road. It also tends to go into some sort of leaf blower mode sometimes when you hit the brakes, where the revs soar but it doesn't act like it downshifted. This is not a mixup in brake/gas pedal usage, like the unintended acceleration problems weve all read about with other brands. The dct has a mind of it's own and is a hazard on the road. The problems are when the vehicle is in motion, and it can happen anywhere, at random, highway, freeway, pulling out of a driveway... anywhere. Please help get these dangerous cars off the road. Not sure what documentation you want, but the car is under warranty, and was bought in Aug 2017. Cars with this engine/trans are still for sale in the showrooms nationwide, a known danger to all concerned. The dealership service mgr has told us how there are a lot of unhappy customers out there with 1.6 turbo/dct drivetrains, and yet they are selling more by the day. Yet there is no support other than the one time attempt and "they all do that". help.

Upon suppressing the accelerator pedal vehicle fails to accelerate from standstill creating a 2-3 "pause" that is highly dangerous especially when entering traffic, freeways, etc. This is clearly a problem that is documented however no recall has been granted for this model. It doesn't matter what road: City street or a highway. The vehicle hesitates and does not move when you need to! when the powertrain does finally take hold, the engine revs high and pulses forward causing yet another disturbing and potentially dangerous condition for driver and others on the road. This is clearly a mechanical and/or software glitch that will eventually result in accidents and bodily harm. Note this condition is sometimes intermittent therefore creating a false sense of driver control since you never know when you will face lack of proper acceleration. At first I suspected it was just the 4-cyl engine being small, but after reading about other people having exactly same experience.

While vehicle is being driven, in motion on a street and needing to accelerate, especially when making a turn, often the accelerator pedal will seem to stall or falter when being depressed, causing the vehicle to slow, then the pedal continues downward and the vehicle lurches forward. Hyundai service advisor on July 6, 2018 politely said "all Tucson turbo models do this, no problem". to me this is scary. Does NHTSA think likewise and could there be a safety issue?

My vehicle has a acceleration, hesitation problem. The vehicle is stopped and when I put my foot on the gas it doesn't move then after a few second shoots forward. Just missed hitting another car today on route 128. This is a on going problem. Sometimes when I'm driving the vehicle will all of a sudden speed up. I feel very unsafe.

The car hesitates when accelerating from a stop and acts as it's going to stall. There is no power in the gas pedal when this happens and it can take a few seconds before it finally shifts. This has been happening since May 2017 when I purchased it and I have reported ot to the dealership 3 times. They have been unable to duplicate the issue or find a code indicating that the issue has occurred.

My 2017 Hyundai Tucson has been experiencing extremely dangerous acceleration issues that I would like to bring to the attention of the ntsb. The vehicle will experience lack of acceleration when merging onto highways and/or making turns that require acceleration. The vehicle has done this on several occasions where I was unable to control the vehicle with oncoming traffic. I have also been very close to being rear-ended and/or T-boned due to these acceleration issues. This is a very dangerous condition that is hazardous to not only the owner's of these vehicles, but also to other innocent drivers in their path. Apparently Hyundai and Kia vehicles are known to have this issue and have been mentioned in recent online forums. I reached out to Hyundai moments ago to address this issue with them and I am hoping they will respond to me with a fix and/or solution to this hazardous condition. My vehicle is going to the dealership again tomorrow 4/23/18 for this same issue. The last time I took the vehicle in for this issue I was told there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. It just happened again the other day and I was yet again put into a very "close call" situation. I have a young son and I do not feel safe in this vehicle with this condition occurring intermittently and unexpectedly on the roadway. How many people need to be hit due to this obviously known issue with these vehicles? my vehicle tends to do this more often when merging onto a highway where more acceleration is required; however, I have also experienced this problem when slowly accelerating from being stationary at traffic lights, stop signs, etc.

At various times during driving the car's engine will feel like there's no power or no gas and will go into a stall. This has happened both during accelerating from a stop going into traffic and during driving and accelerating. I have inquired at the dealership(fucillo Hyundai) and the service department suggested to use 93 octane, that was almost a year now and still happens sporadically. This is a very unsafe condition especially while pulling into traffic and the car goes into a "stall". researching blogs this is happening to other owners and is not isolated to me.

The vehicle at times when going from a stop will occasionally totally lose all propulsion for a split second which has caused me to almost be dead in traffic. It is very scary when it happens. I don't know if it is a engine or transmission or fuel problem. I had the problem with a 2014 Santa Fe. My brother in law has the same problem with the same vehicle.

When taking corners the car just revs but I cannot accelerate. I have to move over to let cars pass. I almost got in an accident twice over this issue. I don't know when it is going to happen. Also at a complete stop the engine will not accelerate just rev for about 15-30 seconds. Hyundai tells me just learn how to drive.

Engine fire. Pulling into our driveway the car was stopped in front of our garage. Smoke was issuing from under the hood. Opening the hood revealed a fire from under the engine top cowling and on the felt hood liner. A fire extinguisher (a, B, C) in the garage was used to quickly extinguish the fire. The fire did not spread beyond the engine compartment.

On several occasions the dual clutch system has failed to engage. It occurs when I am stopped and press the pedal to accelerate the car. The car feels as though it is going to stall and does not move forward. This has put me in dangerous situations when I believe I have enough time to turn, but when the car does not respond, my time available to turn is reduced. I reported this to the dealer and they indicated that many people have complained about this behavior and it is the nature of a dual clutch transmission. The service man said that it takes time for the computer to determine what it is going to do next and I need to give it that time.

Hesitation on acceleration, dual clutch transmission. Reported problems with the 2016 Tucson. My vehicle is a 2017 Tucson SE plus, the problems are the same as previously reports regarding the 2016 model. The existing recall needs to be broadened to include 2017's. plus, I understand the computer software upgrade does not guarantee a permanent repair. Very dangerous. My car was purchased in may of 2017 and has less than 1300 miles. The problem was first discovered today while doing daily errands.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. While driving 5 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle restarted automatically and returned to normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (clay Hyundai located at 391 providence hwy, norwood, MA 02062; (844) 464-3563) where it was stated that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. The failure recurred several other times. Also, while at a stop sign on a hill, the engine stalled without warning and the vehicle rolled back. The contact applied the brakes. The vehicle restarted automatically and returned to normal. Yesterday, when the contact pulled into the parking lot, the engine stalled and rolled forward when the gear was shifted into reverse. The contact applied the brakes to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted or made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 500.

The vehicle has a drive-by-wire system controlling the throttle and the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. In certain circumstances, the throttle pedal has no effect on the throttle whatsoever. It happens most in 'eco' mode, but still happens in 'sport' mode, always at a relatively low speed (walking pace) or when accelerating from a stop. The vehicle has had one firmware update (at about 3K miles?) which did minimize the problem somewhat, but didn't eliminate it. At 7,900 miles the problem seems to be getting worse, and the dealer says there are no new firmware updates they are aware of. I am concerned because many times, when in slow or stop-and-go traffic, I've needed to accelerate and the vehicle simply wouldn't do it for what felt like forever, but was probably only a second or two. When the vehicle finally did start to move, it jumped forward at full throttle. The service writer at the dealership says this is a common complaint, and that other customers have also complained, specifically, about trying to pull out of their dealership onto a busy street and had their vehicle simply refuse to accelerate. On just one occasion, the vehicle accelerated at full throttle up to the engine's redline, without my foot on the throttle! as bad as it is, I expect that there have been accidents caused by this problem.

We just purchased a 2017 Hyundai Tucson sport. The car has a serious issue of no acceleration after a stop, merging, passing on the highway and turning at an intersection. The car hesitates when you hit the accelerator, sometimes leaving you nearly stopped in a an intersection waiting for a car to hit you. If you choose to change lanes on a highway the car will hesitate when you press the accelerator to make the lane change. My wife has stopped driving the car due to the seriousness of no acceleration and safety concerns. We have taken the car back to the dealership and they said the diagnostics show that the car is fine and it is how the Hyundai transmission works in these vehicles. I think the car could be a "lemon." Not sure what to do.
