Dealers will NOT inspect the engine. Dealers will also install a software update containing a new Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS). Repairs will be performed free of charge, BUT IT STILL DID NOT HAPPEN!!!

Owners were notified of the defect on November 16, 2021. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED by any notification letters that were mailed. I WILL NEVER BUY A HYUNDAI PRODUCT AGAIN!!!

Engine will not turn over. when key is turned the car does nothing. there will be no light on the dash. the entire dash will be blank. after the third attempt to start the vehicle will start. every time I take it to the dealer they can't find anything wrong.

I was at mile 450 of a 600 mile trip home, I stopped at a store to purchase some items. I came out of the store, pressed the unlock button on the door, sat in the drivers seat, closed the door, depressed the brake pedal and pushed the start button. Nothing happened. Confused, I did it again, still nothing. I tried pressing the door lock and unlock buttons on the key fob, nothing. I thought maybe the key fob was damaged so I looked for my manual to see how to start the car without the key fob. I couldn't find the manual so I called my dealer and spoke to a service technician. He told me to press the start button with the key fob, that did not help. He said it sounded like a bad battery connection so I popped the hood. I asked for the roadside assistance number but he didn't know it so he transferred my call. Then I opened the door. As soon as I did that everything started working fine.

I was now on the phone with my dealer's service manager who suggested I take it to the nearest dealer (Spokane Valley Hyundai), which I did. I parked the vehicle, went to the service dept and explained what had happened. The tech asked for the key and we walked to the vehicle. He used the remote to unlock the door, sat down, depressed the brake pedal, pushed the start button and nothing happened. He then used the key fob to press the start button but still nothing. I was about to suggest he try closing the door but pressing the door lock button on the key fob started everything working again. We talked about options and I decided to continue my drive home, without turning the car off. Four hours later I arrived home.

The next business day I called the dealer and told them about the problem and asked them to fix it. I was told it would be at least four days before they could look at it. I said fine, I just want this fixed and I want a courtesy car while it is in the shop. Then I was told it may take longer because they weren't sure when a car would be available. The she asked me how to reproduce the problem, I said I didn't know. She said they couldn't fix it if they couldn't observe the problem. I said, "I just want my bloody car fixed!" She said, you've crossed the line, don't bring your car in! and then hung up.

I contacted Hyundai by both phone and email and have not been able to speak to anyone about this issue. It seems like I have no recourse at all!

Went to start 2/5/17 key would NOT turn in ignition AGAIN. Because this happened the day before and I fixed based on Troy, MI Hyundai Service Managers' suggestion. Sent Hyundai USA another complaint notice and suggested they CALL Troy, MI Hyundai Dealer Service Mgr. named John and stated again this is a KNOWN problem. Their response said nothing about making the call and said they were glad of the fix.

Wife can't wait to be stranded. We now have to be mentally aware not to accidentally turn the steering wheel when car if off. I will be posting updates as the come.
