I started having slow braking issues only 3 months after I purchased the vehicle in March of 2014 and it has progressively worsened. The brakes started to malfunction on a road trip to DisneyLand from Idaho with my daughter in July of 2014. I started to notice a decline in my brake response time while driving through Nevada, until suddenly the pedal hit the floor and my vehicle didn't stop moving forward. I had to slow the vehicle down by downshifting and pulling my E-Brake, once we were at a safer speed.
Since then, I've done complete replacements of the front and back brakes with rotors, pads, calipers, had a brake fluid flushes, and even got new tires -nothing helps. They go right back to crap within a few months. I even had issues with slow braking while driving it away from the shop. One week they're fine, then the next the pedal is airy or hitting the floor. I've found myself pumping the brakes in a panic multiple times because they randomly decide to stop working, without warning. I never know when they're going to malfunction. I have noticed the brakes worsen when I am driving long distances and/or driving on hilly roads (which is the most dangerous place for them to start acting up). But right when I get to a flatter surface, I have to pump the brakes like crazy to get them to barely work again. It is VERY scary. I now rent vehicles or use a family members when driving long distances.
To top it all off, other components of the braking system have quickly started to fail and has caused me several near accidents, more of my time and money to fix, and added further fear of safety while driving. I will explain these other components in a separate complaint. The entire braking system is just horrible, and overall, unpredictable and unsafe.
I can't afford to keep bringing the car in to be "fixed" when the problem only persists. I don't understand why Hyundai is just slapping the same band aid, with the same price tag on this, and not addressing or considering further issues. I don't know what to do. Out of good conscience, I can't sell my car, but I can't afford any more brake repairs, or a new car, if I don't. I appreciate any/all suggestions.
