Driving on an interstate the "air bag" light came on. Eventually diagnosed SRS code B1706 "passenger buckle pretensioner resistance too high" advised air bag may not deploy properly or at all until repaired. On vacation at the time, not close to a dealer. Passenger seat belt system will have to be replaced.
I pd a Hyundai Tucson dealer a $100 to put a computer on my 2006 car to find out why my air bag light was on took them just a few minutes to tell me it was the seat belts was the reason the light was on and it would only cost $600 to change them. I am in my 70 ts on fixed income after my medicare I only have $400 ss to live on. That means I won't eat for 3 mouths or have heat or pay any other bills if I wont to drive my car and I live a long from town and am handicapped. After reading in the papers about 2006-200 sonatas having an issue with the air bag sensor inside the seat belt buckle, I believe it should also include the tuscan. I've had this issue for some time now and was told by the dealership that it was not covered under warranty. The air bag will not deploy in an event of an accident on the passenger side. This seems to be a sensor issue I am sure Hyundai is aware about.
After reading about the Hyundai sonatas probe (2006 - 2008), I believe the probe should expand to include my 2006 Hyundai tuscon. Since January of 2014, my passenger seat indicator light ( on the dash board) has been on saying "passenger air bag off". even when someone is present in the seat and the seat belt is fastened. I took the car to my Hyundai dealer and they told me a sensor in the buckle has gone out and the air bag will not deploy if needed. They told me the replacement cost in $600, which I can not afford to have replaced. This leaves my family in danger if an accident should occur.
Granddaughter rearended a pickup truck and her seat belt did not retrack causing her head to hit the windshield and her jaw to hit the steering wheel and cut her inner lip.

2006 Hyundai Tucson with several safety issues. Customer states that the vehicle has been worked on for the past 6 months. She also states that the problems are with air bags, seat belts, and other things. There was also a problem with the steering column.
