My Hyundai Tucson was an excellent car for the first 21 months (20000 KM) - smooth engine, terrific pick up.
In Jan 2008, I started noticing the engine was no longer as quite as it used to be. I started hearing a slight clatter during idling. Took it to a Hyundai service station and had them "service" the vehicle, clearly mentioning the rough idling. No improvement.
By mid-Feb the clatter had become significantly worse. Took it to the service station again only to be told "all diesel engines will have clatter"! They certainly did not tell me this when they sold me the vehicle two years back!
I strongly suspect something is going wrong with the engine, day by day, but with the Hyundai service centers being clueless, I am unable to take any action and simply have to watch the engine deteriorate and maybe one day, pack up and die!
Trouble is, this Tucson is positioned as a high-end vehicle and I paid a ton of money for it. Two years is just not the lifespan expectation from such an expensive vehicle.
Moral of the story, never buy a "high-end" vehicle from Hyundai. They are a small, cheap car maker, who are not capable of supporting a high-end car.
