My Hyundai Tucson was a wonderful vehicle for about 21 months (20000 KM). Smooth engine, fantastic pickup - a really wonderful car.
Then, in Dec 2007, I started observing reduced pickup. I had to press the throttle harder to generate good pickup. Around Christmas 2007 I went on a mountain drive, and even flooring the accelerator in second gear did not produce enough torque to climb! Had real trouble getting to my destination!
Throughout Jan and Feb 2008, I have made repeated trips to a Hyundai service center, and the mechanics there could not event see what the problem! Their response was "everything is fine with your car. All CRDi engines, after 2 years of usage, will have poor pickup"! They sure did not tell me this when they sold it to me!
Trouble is, I paid a ton of money for this vehicle, and now within two years I am stuck with an under performing vehicle with practically no resale value!
Think twice before buying a high-end vehicle from Hyundai!
