This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
My 2005 hundai tuscon seems to be of very poor quality. I rarely use the backhatch window, maybe 5 times in the past 10months. The passenger side hinge broke and is totally corroded (sp?) by just opening it an inch by mistake and closing it, it snapped right off. Hyundai dealer says "well it is 6yrs old". I also have had an issue since I purchased the vehicle where the power locks go on and off on their own and there is something randomly draining the battery if it is not driven every 24-48hrs. It appears both of these issues have been apparent for many 2005 tuscon owners, and Hyundai is failing to acknowledge these factory issues which should have been recalled in my opinion.
The rear window hinges rust out. One hinge rusted out and now the other. If both had gone the window would have fallen out, if on the highway could have been quite serious.
2005 Hyundai Tucson, purchased used. Both sun visors are cracked where they attach to the vehicle. The drivers side visor cannot be used as it swings freely and obstructs vision. The passenger side is cracked in exactly the same way. The sonata visors were recalled, the Tucson appears to be the same design but has not been recalled and are very expensive to replace. Looking for used parts at junk yards we found all of the visors were cracked in the same manner. Appears to be a dangerous, faulty design.
I bought my Hyundai tuscon brand new back in 2005. Last week I noticed a rattling sound coming from the rear windshield and when I went to check it the back windshield almost has fallen out. The latch that holds the windshield in place has corroded completely. I can honestly say that over the 5 years I have owned the vehicle I hardly open the back window. I usually open the entire tailgate when placing items for storage. I have contacted the dealer and Hyundai about the issue looking to get the latch replaced and haven't heard anything back from them. I have tried on several attempts since I notice the problem. This is dangerous and could cause the windshield to come falling out.
The back hatch window of my 2005 tuscon broke, sending the right 1/2 of the window flying down about 2 feet. The back door/hatch latch is also broken, you can't shut it without pulling he latch back out manually first after opening it. Has been over a month and 1/2 ;parts still not all in. Also, the gas cap latch is rested and I fear next to break.
