My Coupe was recalled for poss corrosion to sub-frame and lower arms. I took it to my local dealership, their technician tapped it with a hammer and told me it was fine, that was approx 5 months ago. On 09/12/2011 whilst driving my lower arm suspension split in half, thankfully I had slowed down and pulled of the motorway as I felt that something was not right with the car. Myself, family and other road user's could of been killed. Obviously my first port of call, once having the problem/fault confirmed as corrosion to the lower arm, I contacted the dealership with regards to them checking my car, informing me is was ok and didn't need any work regarding the recall and obviously sending me out in a death trap. The conclusion to all this was, obviously the repairs done free of charge, but when I informed them I could no longer feel safe in that vehicle and no longer wanted it, I was offered a straight swop for a 2001 Hyundai Elantra! I have now found out that this make /model was also recalled for the same problem! I am totally disgusted in Hyundai. Oh and forgot to mention, the Dealership has informed me that it has record of my car ever being taken into them to be checked regarding the recall! How convenient. Please all Hyundai owners, if your car was recalled for corrosion and you took it to be checked and were told it was fine, please take it back or to another dealership to have it re-checked, especially as the winter is approaching.
