The hybrid battery, PHEV system, and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed however, the independent mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was then towed to the local dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the engine and catalytic converter. The engine was replaced. The failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
