The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the warning message "Stop Car, Check Brake" illuminated and the brake pedal felt rigid when depressed. The contact veered to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The contact stated that as she restarted the vehicle, the brake pedal was no longer rigid, and responded when depressed. The contact drove the vehicle to her residence. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic who diagnosed that the brake unit and the pressure source needed to be replaced. The manufacturer and the dealer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 114,897.
