We love this car. Great power on the highway and in city. Really good fuel efficiency and the only maintenance is regular oil changes.
Two months ago we experienced (the attached video) an electrical issue. Every error message possible displayed on the screen. Gauges up and down. Thirty error codes recorded in the system.
First time is very annoying. Second time the vehicle eventually lost power and caused us to stop. Third time the vehicle couldn't even start from a stop. First tow in, it was believed the 12 volt battery causing issues and replaced at my expense. Second tow in was resulted in a replacement of the electric water pump (warranty). Service bulletin described the problem perfectly associating the problem to the pump. Worked great for five days and then died completely.
Towed three times by Hyundai Canada. In the shop for a total of 4.5 weeks of eight. Still no solution to the problem. They have no idea. Their gurus at Hyundai HiTech also involved but have no solution. Main computer, Powertrain Control Module, or some wiring issue somewhere, who knows. What I do know is that I'm paying for a vehicle that I haven't been able to drive for a month. What was once very reliable is now a vehicle we have lost confidence in. At least under warranty, I'm curious what they will do if they can't fix it.
Update from Aug 16, 2017: The problem is fixed. The backup camera was shorting out, causing the main computer to fault.
Great vehicle and no issues since the problem was resolved.
