I own a 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited. I keep the vehicle well maintain, however, the vehicle appears to have several "Recalls." The recall regarding the "Steering Coupler" has recently been an issue which gave me reasonable belief that there is a safety issue with rattling and unstable steering wheel.
I researched and spoke with NHTSA.gov regarding the malfunction of the steering column... I was told the Recall #198 covers the repairs. However, Dealership states, "It will cost you $449.00USD to repair. The Manufacture will not cover the vehicle because the mileage is over t00k on the Extended Warranty Plan."
I further researched and emailed the Dealership of my findings. The Bushing (Coupler) is minimally $4USD and maximum $15USD. Additionally, I purchased an Extended Warranty Plan with the vehicle on purchase day for the "Used Vehicle" from CARMAX (40k Vehicle Odometer).
I DISPUTE that I am being charged for a recalled item that is a manufacturer defect. The NHTSA states, "The Recall #198 covers the steering column issue(s)."
This is very disappointing!
