jerky starts and stops and ready light flashed on and off

I was driving around town getting ready to go on the interstate for a long road trip when the car started acting squirrely. When the traffic light turned green, I noticed that when I got up to about 20 mph, the transmission sounded like it was racing before it finally switched to another gear. Another 1/2 mile down the road I noticed the "Ready" light was on and flashing. The car was starting to jerk when I continued pressing the gas, so I pulled over into a parking area and read the owner's manual which indicated that it was a problem with the electrical system. I turned the car off, and turned it back on and tried to back it out of the parking lot, but the engine light came on and the Ready light began blinking again, so the manual said to contact the nearest Hyundai dealership. The car was towed to the dealership and they diagnosed the problem as a faulty part to the oil pump at a cost of $500 for the part. Labor was going to be 2 hours. Unfortunately, the car was past the 60K warranty and is not under warranty so I either have to pay it or trade in for another car, so will end up paying for this. If I have another flukey thing happen, I will probably trade it in.

Otherwise, have been very happy with the car and have had it since Feb 2016 with no issues and great gas mileage.
