This is a brand new car. I broke down in the desert with little water about 10 miles from anywhere in my BRAND NEW CAR, less than 600 miles on it. The dealer did NOTHING except say call roadside and be rude. Doug, the service manager, told me WITHOUT seeing my car that he would NOT get me a rental because it may have damage from rodents chewing wiring. So surprise, surprise, when today they call to say that IS the problem. They are doing me a BIG FAVOR by ONLY charging me $350. WTH?
So imagine how surprised I am when I find out that since Hyundai changed to an ECO FRIENDLY wire wrap made with SOY that this is a very normal problem and in 2017 a class action lawsuit was filed against Hyundai for just this problem. Not only that, but people are selling products on Amazon that will help keep rodents out of your engine. Or, you can even have your car treated (up to $2,000) with an undercoating that will help. HOW ABOUT changing the wiring to not be MOUSE enticing.
So, the $4000 warranty I purchased that is a 7 year bumper to bumper fix everything, but even normal service does not cover this. The Manufacturers warranty does not cover this. The Manufacture has been aware of this problem and REFUSES to correct it.
My tow driver, yes, it had to be towed to the dealer on DAY 14 of me owning it, said that he has picked up 3 cars recently for the same type of thing, all Hyundais.
This is my SEVENTH Hyundai purchase, probably my last.
UPDATE... the dealer just called to tell me that my car is done and that I can pick it up. ($350) I asked about the soy wiring and he said it was not soy. When I told him there was a 2017 class action lawsuit against Hyundai for this exact thing I was told that the US GOVERNMENT, because of Obama action, requires ALL CARS to have soy wrapped wiring. I think I am calling BS on this one. Notice it was not soy until I knew something, then it was. Just a little unhappy.
