The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata equipped with hankook kin energy tires (na), size: 205/65/R16 (na). While driving approximately 70 mph, the rear passenger side tire blew out. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was towed to the house. The contact took the tire to the dealer and the contact was advised to talk to the tire manufacturer. The tire manufacturer was notified of the failure. The tire was replaced at the owner's expense. The dot number was unknown. The approximate tire and vehicle failure mileage was 16,000.
On January 16, 2017, at approximately 3:50pm Arizona time, on westbound I-40 about two miles from exit 9, the left front kuhmo solus TA31 tire blew out its sidewall at 45mph in a construction zone. The result was the tire was destroyed with damage to both driver-side wheels. In addition, a bulge was noticed in the left rear tire. All four tires were replaced. The damage to the wheels is considered cosmetic and they were not replaced due to a cost of $427 each. The road condition and visibility at the time of the accident were excellent. The tires had 17,560 miles on them and were maintained according to manufacturer specifications regarding pressure and rotation.
Tires on 2015 Hyundai Sonata sport. At 9000 mi. During scheduled routine maintenance at the dealership, I was informed that the tires could not be rotated due to a blister in the side wall of one of the tires. I replaced this tire with a new one of same make and model. At approximately 21,000 mi. I was again informed (during routine maintenance) that the tires could not be rotated due to a blister in the side wall of one of the tires. In 43 years of driving, I've never experienced a tire developing a blister in the side wall...until now. Two tires in 14 months. I believe that these tires are defective. Hancook ventus S1 noble2 - dot 17N9 1A H-2514, 235/45R18 - 94V this vehicle was purchased new in March, 2015 and is equipped with tire pressure monitoring system monitoring. The dealership services my vehicle every 3 to 5 thousand miles. They always inflated the tires to 32 psi. Vehicle placard recommends 34 psi. The tire itself reads 51 psi max. After the second 'blister' incident, I increased the tire pressure to 40 psi. No issues with tires since.
