I started noticing small sections that the paint was peeling I do Have PICTURES but don't know how to send them this way just from my phone. After a short time the paint was peeling from many places on the vehicle it looked horrible for a 7 year old vehicle to look going down the highway also with the other problems it just added up, Is there no regulation as to how many coats they have to provide???????

I have bought many new cars and I have never had something like this happen to one before. The more I look around I see many of the same model and color with the same issue. This was the second Sonata that I bought new and I will never again buy Hyundai product or recommend one to anyone. I will also start an internet campaign against Hyundai to warn others not to buy a Hyundai Product.

Every Hyundai Sonata I have seen within the year range as mine has paint peeling along the hood adjoining the windshield and on the roof also adjoining the windshield. Sadly again something that could be easily remedied but will be stalled to avoid compensating customers to get it repainted.

I first noticed paint peeling various areas of my car that kept getting worse last summer, and I went to Hyundai who sent me to the body shop for pictures to submit to Hyundai. That was Oct or Nov, I heard nothing. Meanwhile, I started once again having oil consumption problems so I went back to the Hyundai dealership to report this has asked for a test. At this time I also had them take pictures to submit to Hyundai. Again, nothing, I called only to find out that the paint claim was denied as well as the engine problem. You can see more about the engine in the complaint addressing the oil consumption. My car is now rusting where the paint is gone and is steadily having more paint peel. I sent 3 pictures but did not send ones showing the paint on the hood, side panels etc.

I have never had paint peel from a car, this is unbelievable.

paint peeling

The 2015 Sonata has the paint problem also. Was a class action but the plaintiff screwed up. This year also has the window tint, engine, blinker, seat belt, airbag, parking break and trunk issues. Oh ya, and the oil consumption issue. Among other items.

paint peeling

I went through a normal carwash and a huge chunk of paint flew off. Local paint shop said this is not how paint fails unless adhesion issue. They said it's definitely a problem with the paint itself.

paint peeling

In October of 2017 I noticed a big piece of paint peeled from the leading edge of the roof. This is on my 2015 Sonata so it was only 2 years old. When I took it to the dealer on my next appointment it had peeled in a couple other areas too. I talked to the service manager who was dismissive immediately. He tried to blame it on rocks but I proved him wrong and after him scrutinizing it for awhile asked if I had the paint protection warranty. I did buy it with the car at that dealership.

He had me get an estimate from their body shop and it came out to $1500 so I guess that was too high and he backed off on paying for the painting. He finally agreed to have their "Paint guy" do a patch job on it. I was willing to accept that if he could promise me that it would be indiscernible from original paint. But I had to come in when the weather permitted his work outside and on a Wednesday. WTH! So I haven't been able to get the damn car in there on their schedule. Now I found out that the hood is also flaking off with just a hose spraying water on it. The crappy white paint was all over my drive way after washing it yesterday and now I am pissed.

Need advise on how to handle these pricks. Anyone?

Thanks for letting me vent.
