On constant cruise control, the steering always pulls aside and makes annoying to drive . Dealers have no solutions to it. They charge heavily for inspection. Looks like earning money wanted issues.

There have been so many recalls on this car if I would have known it was like this I wouldn't purchase this car.

Sonata GLS 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10,014 miles

Bought 2013 Sonata with 10,014 miles from Rick Case Hyundai in Plantation Florida. In the first few weeks I noticed an issue with the steering when driving on the highway or above 60 mph. The car wanders left and right in the lane, has no sense of center. Requires constant steering correction to try to keep the car going in a straight line. Took the car to Wallace Hyundai in Stuart, Florida which is the dealer near my home. When I explained the issue they stated that is the way Electronic Power Steering (EPS) is and I need to get used to it. That is bull as I have driven other cars with EPS and they track straight on the highway. They charged me $66.00 to change the steering mode from "soft" to "sport" mode and stated that I will notice a difference. Well it did nothing to correct the wandering issue. This issue is serious, dangerous and fatiguing to constantly correct the steering. When I follow other Sonatas down the highway I can see their car going back and forth in the lane they are driving in. The dealer also stated that out of 700,000 Sonatas manufactured that only 2% have this problem. I do not know if that is accurate but it is a serious issue. I looked for a second to change the radio station and my car wandered into the other lane. There needs to be a class action law suite to make Hyundai fix this issue before someone gets killed.

Like many other complaints I've just ready, I am also having trouble with the 2013 Hyundai Sonata steering. When driving over 60 mph the steering doesn't center, instead the car wanders to the left, there is a blank space in the steering, and when you go to turn right it doesn't catch right away, then over-corrects, which then causes you to turn the steering wheel the other direction, so it's a constant, exhausting battle while driving. My forearms get tired. It was barely noticeable when I first purchased the car used with low mileage. At first I thought it was my imagination, but now it's worse and tiring. Current mileage 25,000. I took it in to my local dealership (who is great) and they said exactly what I have been reading previously, that it's the electronic steering system instead of hydraulic, that there isn't much they can do, and to get used to it. They did try, and reprogrammed the car to the sport steering mode, which does help the overall handling of the car, which I appreciated, but the problem is still there. They said there is no imminent danger, which I was relieved to hear, but driving long distances does not excite me any longer. I'm afraid this could be damaging for Hyundai as the complaints are starting to stack up. It sounds like a recall for the steering coupler needs to happen, but I hope by registering my complaint, something may get done about it. If anyone knows a direction to go with this please let me know. They did not offer to replace the steering coupler today.

Sonata GLS

I have had this car for 10 months and the steering is an issue, as it seems to try to auto correct on its own. I have a problem on rural roads as, if you get too close to the edge of the pavement, the car will lurch right on it own. Last time I hit a guard rail, I thought it was me, but now I realize the car has issues. I have a big dodge truck and never had problems with the steering at all. I also drove a camry for a while, and felt much safer than the sonata. Seriously thinking about giving it up now, as I drive 60 miles a day on interstate and do not feel that its safe.

Sonata Limited

Steering this car on the highway is unbearable and nearly impossible to stay on the road. I too have come close to sideswiping many cars. I cannot keep this car in the lane for anything. I too didn't test drive on the highway, only in town driving. This should be recalled, its that dangerous.

Sonata Limited 2.0t

  • Automatic transmission
  • 13 miles

impossible to keep this car in the center lane at highway speeds.. car dangerously wanders into other lanes, especially when there is any wind present.

steering feels like it becomes disconnected at times, and that there is no control of the wheels via use of the steering wheel

Bought the car yesterday, test drove, but not on the highway. Wasn't until I drove home from the dealership on the highway that i realized what a huge mistake I made in buying this car.

I came close on several occasions of sideswiping other vehicles...I cannot keep this vehicle and am unsure what to do.

To make matters worse, the check engine light came on with only 43 miles on the odometer this morning on the way to work, the second day of having the car.
