The rear light assembly keeps burning out the light bulb. I changed the light bulbs several times and then replaced the unit left and right side. Believe it is an electrical issue. Also, something inside the steering will is moving around.
Brake lights and tail light has blown 50+ times since I've had the vehicle. The brake lights are overheating and causing discoloration and a fire hazard. The bulbs get so hot that the plastic casing are warped.
I had to replace the cv joint on one side of the car and then months later the other side. I was told by my body shop that this was happening with alot of the Hyundai Sonatas. Also, I have replaced light bulbs blowing monthly in my car and one ha actually burned. I have also found out that several people have had problems with this as well.
Brake lights have gone out monthly since 2017. The light sockets have melted to the actual bulbs. The center brake light stays on sometimes while driving. There is a concern that this is a fire hazard and my 10 & 12 year old's are in the back seat. Last week while driving approx. 45mph the vehicle decelerated while pressing gas and would not increase speed until I let off the gas and the gas again. This has happened many times. It concerns me that this may cause an accident when traveling at a high rate of speed.
Head lamps turn off and dash go to max illumination, temporarily blinding the driver. The duration is up to 5 seconds. This can happen just once or several times per occurrence. Inside the car can be like a slow strobe light effect. This occurs while driving in any conditions. There is no warning and the problem starts. I have had the problem with this car since 2017. The problem just randomly happens.

I have a problem with my exterior lights constantly burning out. Brake light was out, I was notified when I was pulled over for a traffic stop. I changed the light bulb that same day, and two days later the bulb was burnt out again. I changed the bulb thinking it was a bad bulb, and the same thing happened about a week later. I was told at Hyundai service department that it was a wiring issue, and they fixed it. However, a month later, my bulb is out again, plus my two license plate bulbs, and a taillight. I again fixed all lights, and to no surprise, passenger side brake light is out once again. Also, my headlights were just replaced the same time because they seemed dim. Brand new, supposedly brighter bulbs, look exactly the same as the old dim lights. I cannot see at night unless I use my high beams. This is a very big safety issue. I have read several other people having the same problem, but still no recall has been put out about this issue.
I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata limited and have been replacing rear tail lights on the left side, driver, more than 3X a year. No problems with the right tail light. Have been issued repair work order at least twice. Late December 2018 replaced light again and verified light on January 19, 2019 and bulb is not working again and replaced. And the side light cover is melted from the side bulb. Was told by auto tech that this an ongoing problem with the vehicle.
For the last year I have been replacing light bulbs for my tail light and the bulb keep blowing out or busing in the tail light. I took it to Hyundai and they told me it was the wiring harness and in 2011-2015 Hyundai Sonata they have a shortage in them. I think they need to recall and this problem need to be fix as soon as possible.
Sonata recall: Well for starters I almost got hit by a 18 wheeler because the car shut off on the interstate while I was driving. Lucky I was to get the car to the side of the road but it hit the side rail because I couldnt get it to stop.now the car will not start at all. All of the lights came on at once and it scared me to death because my kids were in the car with me.
Driving 65 mph on the highway my car sounded like it was going to fall apart. Then 2 mins later it shuts off on me. Leaving me stranded for an hour on I66. Had to have it towed back to my house. I've been complaining about hearing knocking noises and my lights coming on while driving but whenever I took it to the dealership of course the car never made the noises. I always have to change my right brake light. There's a short in the wire
I have been driving this car for a little over a year and in the past month it had happened a few times when driving at night the headlights have went off while driving first it happened when using the turn signals and then it done it while driving without using a turn signal I was on a city street every time it has happened I am just a little over 60,000 miles, feeling a little uncomfortable driving it at night
Brake lights keep burning out, have to replace bulbs every few weeks, it has burned/melted the housing to the point that bulb can no longer be locked in place in the housing, interior lights start turning on and off on their own, steering wheel buttons will perform another function than what they are supposed to do. These problems happen while driving and usually only while car has been driving for longer periods of time but can be on city street or highway.
Summer of 2018 I complained to carmax about electrical problems to check. My horn unexpectedly will not work, my monitor stopped working and was replaced (Oct 2018) but now it blinks off and on, and I would replace my exterior lights almost every 2-3 months. Recently (Nov 2018) I was told my brake lights were out so I went to replace them at autozone and was told my light cases are melted as well as the bulb holder is burnt. I have only had this car for 1 year and 10 months. Since purchasing this car I have replaced my cv joints 4 times, had a new monitor put in the car, new engine and other recalls completed on this car. I feel it is important that the manufacturer completely recall this model year for safety reasons.
The tail lights on my 2013 Sonata constantly burn out. This time the bulb is not blown, and both filaments are intact, the tail lights do not come on with the headlights, but the brake lights still work. Also, now the bulbs are stuck in the sockets, and the bulbs got so hot it melted the outer edge of where the bulb socket on the back of the tail light housing goes, not allowing the socket to properly go back into place.
First- airbag light comes on randomly driving, in park or reverse. Second my interior light is in door mode does not go off as it should this is random as well sometimes it will go off other times it does not. I have to keep it in off mode - not fun at night leaving in dark for work or loading unloading babies. It has to stay in off mode so battery doesn't die. Third- cruise control once again random sometimes I can get it to set other times I cannot some times I can pull over park turn off and attempt again and it still doesn't work. Fourth- car wouldn't start, not battery related some interior lights worked some didn't radio didn't clock did all dash lights worked trunk would not open via inside button or ke button, gas tank would open with button. The door open alarm would ding. Fifth- odd sounds best described as grinding brakes fan belt movement that's broke and this is louder and louder then stops also has odd smell at the times of occurrence -dealership claims nothing is wrong obviously something is. These have been different occurances sometimes more than once at the same time. Some occurring for a couple of months now
Vehicles steering column is rattling and shaking very bad steering is very loose... also brake light bulbs keep burning out for no reason every couple of weeks and having to be replaced
