Problem with my Hyundai Sonata 2013 gls taillights/brake lights are not turning off. The car is off, key out of the ignition, lights switched off and foot not on the brake and lights are remaining on. They stay on throughout the night and day. The worst time is while driving, they remain on as if I'm driving with my foot on the brake. This is ridiculous. I am left to figure it out on my own as there is no recalls and I refuse to pay the dealership for something that should clearly be a recall. With hundreds if not thousands of people reporting this issue with Sonatas from modules dating back that I can tell from 2007 to current. I refuse to get this car agai and as soon as I can sale it consider it sold!
Multiple fog lights, headlights, brake lights have repeatedly have had to be replaced and other lights such as on the mirrors, not as critical as the first ones mentioned also the screen that has time date, ability to talk without holding phone, radio, navigations ets goes out approximately every two days for about two days and comes back later. Last week was fourth right headlight in four months. Work performed for me at auto zone and the customer service person said I needed to report since it has been so frequently
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the vehicle would not identify the key fob, which prevented the vehicle from starting. The contact mentioned that when the battery cable was reset, the vehicle started. Also, while driving 65 mph, the vehicle uncontrollably steered to the left and right. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred periodically. The vehicle was taken to sussman Hyundai & genesis (1645 easton rd, willow grove, pa 19090, (215) 392-9020) where it was diagnosed that the brake sensor needed to be updated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 42,000.
The bulbs on my vehicle as well as several others Sonata's of the same model are having electrical failure when the lights are switched from off to on while driving. This causes the car to decelerate. I've also noticed electrical issues with bulbs for the brake lights and headlights at various speeds as well. For example, when it begins to rain if you turn on the lights in compliance with the state law, the car loses power and decelerates.
For years now, I have had to replace multiple brake lights day after day. I've gotten tickets from this. I have pictures of burnt plastic melting (fire hazard!) why is this not being addressed as I just read over 50 of the same comment?! then recently, I replaced the entire tail light assembly on both sides. A few days ago, my brakes will not turn off! I am driving and my brake lights stay on all the time! again, safety issue! I have young kids and one car! I just left dealership showing them problem and get the car back with the brake lights still on!! $300 later and my problem isn't fixed!! it wasn't even touched! I keep reading the same problems over and over and nothing is addressed!! I have spent more money on repairs vs what I actually paid for the car (not to mention I've bought it brand new in 2013. In 2016 I needed a new engine! please make the lights and electrical wiring a recall!! we need help this crap is expensive! I regret buying this vehicle so much!!
Have had to replace headlights several times as well as brake lights. On average, 2 or 3 times a year for each. I had to replace the entire rear light assembly because brake light bulb actually melted the casing around it and warped it so couldn't just replace the bulb any longer. Mechanic told me that the same thing was starting to happen on the driver side light assembly around a marker light as well and will need to be replaced.
I have replaced numerous brake lights and they keep getting melted and burnt out. Im not sure if its the electrical wiring or the actual housing of the brake light itself but this needs to be recalled. I see numerous of the same cars with the same issue. Also during summer months you can smell strong gas fumes throughout the car. As if I was directly breathing in gas. Its that bad. This is not right. This is supposed to be vented out of the vehicle. I have children in the car with me, who get dizzy and sick. This is while driving and while parked.
The rear light assembly keeps burning out the light bulb. I changed the light bulbs several times and then replaced the unit left and right side. Believe it is an electrical issue. Also, something inside the steering will is moving around.
The cruise control buttons on the steering wheel do not work 50% of the time until you hit the steering wheel then the set button will work. I found several complaints about this searching online for 2011-2014 Hyundai Sonata's
Brake lights have gone out at least 2 a month I have purchased this car.. the light sockets have melted to the actual bulbs. The center brake light stays on sometimes while driving. This is a fire hazard. And when the center light is on my car losses speed almost causing me to have an accident. To get the center light to go out I have to tap the tail light. I have a hard time replacing the bulb because it be melted into the holder last week while driving approx. 45mph the vehicle decelerated while pressing gas and would not increase speed until I let off the gas and the gas again. This has happened many times. It concerns me that this may cause an accident when traveling at a high rate of speed.
I had to replace the cv joint on one side of the car and then months later the other side. I was told by my body shop that this was happening with alot of the Hyundai Sonatas. Also, I have replaced light bulbs blowing monthly in my car and one ha actually burned. I have also found out that several people have had problems with this as well.
Brake lights have gone out monthly since 2017. The light sockets have melted to the actual bulbs. The center brake light stays on sometimes while driving. There is a concern that this is a fire hazard and my 10 & 12 year old's are in the back seat. Last week while driving approx. 45mph the vehicle decelerated while pressing gas and would not increase speed until I let off the gas and the gas again. This has happened many times. It concerns me that this may cause an accident when traveling at a high rate of speed.
Sonata recall: Well for starters I almost got hit by a 18 wheeler because the car shut off on the interstate while I was driving. Lucky I was to get the car to the side of the road but it hit the side rail because I couldnt get it to stop.now the car will not start at all. All of the lights came on at once and it scared me to death because my kids were in the car with me.
Driving 65 mph on the highway my car sounded like it was going to fall apart. Then 2 mins later it shuts off on me. Leaving me stranded for an hour on I66. Had to have it towed back to my house. I've been complaining about hearing knocking noises and my lights coming on while driving but whenever I took it to the dealership of course the car never made the noises. I always have to change my right brake light. There's a short in the wire
Brake lights keep burning out, have to replace bulbs every few weeks, it has burned/melted the housing to the point that bulb can no longer be locked in place in the housing, interior lights start turning on and off on their own, steering wheel buttons will perform another function than what they are supposed to do. These problems happen while driving and usually only while car has been driving for longer periods of time but can be on city street or highway.
