I have had the brakes on this car fail at critical moments. I have rear-ended someone two times in less than a year and I was not on my phone or texting. Otherwise, not distracted.
This car will not stop in a panic moment. Period. It won't do it. Each time I was barely accelerating, say 25 maybe less MPH and I romped on the brake putting my foot practically through the floor and I still manage to rear end the car in front of me and sustain an awful lot of damage. The car is very vulnerable and does not EVER come out without substantial damage.
Each time the car in front has stopped just when you would think traffic was moving forward so I am accelerating but I'm not trying to go from 0-60 in two seconds. It's really unbelievable.
Next week the white cloud goes in for surgery. AGAIN!!!!! Argh. Oh, and this time? The guy in front of me was behind an officer and the guy in the SUV? Yeah, that guy? He was FBI. Fabulous.
I want to know WTF with these brakes??? Any ideas? I am terrified that when I need the car to stop for a child darting into the road or an animal, the brakes are going to fail, just when I need them the most.
The brakes failed on two different occasions. The first time it occurred I was pulling into a parking spot at a golf course. When I applied the brakes it would not stop, the car ran into a hedge bush and rocks. It only stopped when I was able to apply the emergency brake. The car only had 14,251 miles on it.
The second occasion I was coming out of a driveway of a service station. Traffic was heavy and when I attempted to stop the brakes failed and I had to use the emergency brakes and steer the vehicle to the curb to avoid being hit by on coming traffic. The vehicle still had less than 14,548 miles on it. On May 1, 2014 I took the car to Ron Marhofer AuoMall who charged me $79.95 to service the calipers and slide pins which they stated was causing the brake failure. This vehicle only had 14,548 miles on it at this time. This is obviously a manufactures defect that should be corrected at no expense to the owner of the vehicle.
