Everytime I have this problem my check engine light comes on. after a few days it goes off. When I take call the dealer they said if the light goes off they cannot check the problem, this problem started about 6 months after I got this car and now my check engine light is on again and will not go off.

Sonata LTD 2.4L

Transmission is shifting very hard and the check engine light comes on. If not repaired, your transmission will be ruined. Was caused by a faulty temperature sensor which is housed within the harness. 4 hour job for mechanic to replace the valve harness, gasket/valve body cover, and 5 quarts of transmission fluid. Luckily the repair was fully covered under the warranty.

WHEN SHIFTING INTO GEAR FROM PARK THERE IS A LOUD CLUNK SOUND. IT IS SLOW IN ACCELERATION AND SHIFTS WHILE DRIVING. I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND THE CAR SHIFTED IT FELT LIKE SOMEONE HIT ME FROM BEHIND. I TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE AND HAD DIAGNOSED CAUSE THE LIGHT IS ON THEY SAID THE CODE WAS P0711 ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR. SO I CALLED THE DEALER TO SEE IF THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WILL COST A LOT TO HAVE CORRECTED AND COULD I GET AN ESTIMATE ON THE COSTS. . AFTER BEING TRANSFERRED TO 2 DIFFERENT SERVICE PEOPLE I WAS TOLD THAT AUTO ZONES CODES ARE WRONG NEED TO COME PAY 60.00 TO HAVE DIAGNOSED AT DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T TELL ME IF IT WAS GOING TO BE EXPENSIVE AND NO THEY DID NOT THINK IT WAS COVERED UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I EXPLAINED TO THE SERVICE PERSON THAT I REALLY NEEDED TO KNOW AN ROUGH ESTIMATE DUE TO HAVING TO COME UP WITH THE FUNDS TO MAKE SURE I HAD ENOUGH AND THAT I DID NOT WANT TO WASTE MY TIME COMING OUT AND CHANCING DAMAGING THE TRANSMISSION IF I COULDN'T GET IT FIXED AT THE MOMENT. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE PERSON GOT SMART WITH ME AND ASK ME DID I THINK THEY WERE GOING TO DO IT FREE. I AM STILL LOOKING FOR SOME PLACE TO GET IT DONE. THE PART COSTS 20-30.00 AND SHOULDN'T BE COSTLY TO REPLACE BUT THEY SHOULD AT LEAST REPLACE UNDER POWERTRAIN SINCE MY CAR IS UNDER 60K MILES. THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM ON OTHER COMPALINT SITES. SOME WERE COVERED AND OTHERS WERE NOT AND WAS CHARGED ASTRONOMICAL PRICES THEN THEY FOUND OUT PART WAS UNDER 30.00.

My mom bought this car with 33,00 miles on it and its been nothing but trouble, but the issue this post is about is shifting. As long as you slowly let the car get up to speed it does fine but if you try to accelerate at all to pass someone or merge onto the interstate it will not shift it will redline no matter what gear your in. If you let of the gas a little sometimes it will go on and shift, it was doing this when my mom first got it so we took it back and the mechanic said he reset it and it worked for a month or so now its doing it again.... Anyone else had this issue?
