I'm not sure if this is an engine problem. When I would take off in my car, I accelerate and after I started going, I could push the pedal all the way to the floor and it had no power, it would almost completely stall in the road. I let off gas and push again and it would regain power and drive. No check engine light came on, no low oil, no service lights at all. All of the gauges in the dash red great and everything was normal. I started my car one day and it started making this chirping noise, almost like a bird chirping when I accelerate, but once I got up in speed the chirping stopped. I then started my car and there was a clicking, ticking type noise that got worse after 2 days. I took the car to a shop and was told it needed a new engine. Again, all gauges are completely normal, no check engine light at all to warn me there might be a problem with my car and now it cant be driven. I purchased this vehicle new. Why doesnt the check engine light or gauges work to warn of possible issues, this has to he a defect and what is the chirping, stalling, loss of power" if my engine was going bad, why did the system fail to alert me"

I have now had two major issues with my hybrid. The first was 5 months ago. My husband was driving the car on the interstate, when all of the sudden he lost power and the engen started smoking and make horrible noises. We had a rod thrown through the engine and had to replace it ($3200). Then on Friday morning I was driving to work on the interstate when I lost all acceleration and the hybrid warning system started going off. I had my mechanic look at it and he told me I will need to replace my transmission, he also said this is a know problem with the Hyundai Sonata hybrids. It is about a $4000 replacement. Please help those of us that put our trust in this vehicle and are now paying for it.

Back in December, 2018, I noticed two large cracks on the passenger side dashboard where the air bag is. The cracks have only been getting longer and I fear for my safety... the airbag can deploy at any time or the airbag possibility won't deploy if I get into an accident. I have reached out to Hyundai and the Hyundai executives, as this has been a known issue with Hyundai and the Sonatas and they will not tdo anything to replace the dashboard for using defective materials. This is a major safety issue and something that Hyundai should recall and fix.

I pulled into a parking spot and noticed nothing out of the ordinary with my vehicle. When I was stepping away from my car and pushed the lock button there was no clicking sound. I continued into the building and returned to my car a few minutes later and it would not start. All of the lights would come on, but the brake locked up and the car would not start. I attempted to charge the battery which did not work. I unhooked the battery cables for a period of time to reset the lock system and possibly unlock the starting system, which did not work either. It has only been two weeks since I took this vehicle into the dealership to have the computer system updated due to engine failure issues in other vehicles. I purchased this vehicle less than a year ago and it does not show from what I can tell a recall. However I was instructed by the dealership to have the car towed into them so they can check to see if it is engine failure or a number of recall issues that I have not been aware of.

Takata recall I was driving in carrolton, ga one evening and was pulled over by an officer and was told both of my brake lights stopped working at or around the same time he gave me until Nov. 27th, 2018 to get them fixed. I was at first replacing the bulbs and they would burn out. I started calling around to different shops to get them fixed and they were all telling me the same thing. That is has become very common with my car( Hyundai Sonata) and that I had to replace the whole system. I found out that is what I have to do and a total of $500 to get both done. I missed my due date to get thwm fixed because it wasnt a simple replace the light bulb fixed and required more money. If this is true why haven't there been a recall on the brake lights? brake lights are very important and unsafe if that are not working hence why it is against the law. If most lr all your cars are having this problem you should be the ones to fix this problem.

My dashboard is severely cracking over top of where the airbag is placed. If I was to get into an accident those pieces of dash particle are going to fly into the face of the occupants. It is a big problem with this model car I have spoken to numerous Sonata owners and they have the same problem. I have tried speaking to Hyundai about it and I was told until it was actually recalled they were not repairing anyting but at the dealership I was told by the mechanic that it is a safety issue. And an upholstery shop told me they can't repair it either because it is a safety issue and can stop the airbag from deploying properly. The pictures I am providing really do it no justice the camera is not picking them up that well there are at least seven or eight cracks across the dashboard currently and I live in Florida where cars get very hot and is doing nothing but getting worse I understand it's not about looks but my wife is scared that if we were to get into an accident chunks of the dashboard are going to fly into her face or our children's face we bought this car because it had a 5-star crash test rating but it seems like since I bought it it's had major safety recalls on a yearly basis and even though we as consumers bring this to the attention of the Hyundai representatives they will not repair anything unless they are made to by the NHTSA. Just like the engine recall and the brake pedal stopper recall that I still have not had repaired it's one issue after another.

On 10/10/18 my vehicle began smoking from the engine compartment after driving less than 10 miles. The engine compartment subsequently burst into flames. 911 was called and the fire was extinguished. There was not a crash preceding the fire. The engine compartment and hood area of the vehicle was burned rendering the vehicle inoperable. A claim has been filed with insurance and a report was generated by the thomaston fire and thomaston police department. Photos of the damage are attached.

Key fob in 2012 Hyundai Sonatas not recognized and don't allow you to start up your car using the push/start button; also, doors won't unlock with fob and manually have to be entered using actual key. Seems like some programming to the fob has been lost; dashboard would turn on and say"key not in vehicle" or "insert key" when depressing the push/start button. Apparently, dealerships are aware of the problem, but may not actually report it and treat as something else only after numerous other repairs. Youtube videos of these issues as I've described are available. Vehicle is stationery when this happens; then it would work and then stop again in a few days. Changed batteries in both fobs and still the same issue. Originally starting happening a week prior to 9/27/2018.

Driving from va clinic bonham, tx to home in mckinney, tx. Auto failed to start on first try, started on second try (never happened before). Went to lunch in bonham. Restarted car first try. Drove highway TX121 approximately fifteen miles and engine died at highway speed. Tried a rolling restart without luck. Parked and tried restart to no avail. Sitting in car calling tow truck and noticed smoke from engine compartment. Smoke continued to be thicker so got out and waved down traffic to get a fire extinguisher (none available) and called 911; emptied belongings from car and watched it burn. Fire department came and put it out but completely burned.

My car is not starting up. When I push key start and press the brakes the lights on the dash comes on but the car wont start. If I wait a fews hours then it will start. I have waited as long as 5 hours in a parking garage. The car reads "key not in vehicle". I have gotten new batteries for both key fobs. The first time the car did this after a few hours later it started and I didn't have an issue for about 3 weeks. Since that time the car has not started on 3 other occasions. I had to have it towed to the dealership. They said I needed the fuel injectors cleaned. So I paid to have that done and then the car started every time for one day. The very next day the wouldn't start again in my driveway. After an hour it started and then the next day it did the same thing and my daughter missed work. When the car doesn't start all the lights and radio come on but the car just wont start. Every time this has happened the car has been stationary. I cant leave my car running while I go to the store because I'm afraid it will not turn back on. I have read article about this same issue from other people with the push start vehicle.

While my car is in motion it does not accelerate properly. A check engine light come on shortly after. The car will rev up to 5000-6000 RPM with very little to no acceleration. Apparently a common issue with the Sonatas with turbos. I was told it's the waste gate actuator for the turbo. When I first experienced this issue I was driving through the mountains and couldn't get up the mountain fast enough so I had to pull over to the shoulder with my hazards. The remainder of the climb over the mountains I was going 20-30 mph (while I'm at 5000 RPM or over).

I was parked. I started the car and put it in reverse to move it closer to a building, from one side of a dirt driveway to the other. When I started backing up everything seemed fine but after a few, maybe 3 seconds, the engine started roaring and the car took off at tremendous speed. I don't know how fast the car went.I hit the building, that's what stopped the car. I don't know if it would have stopped otherwise.
