I was driving down the highway going about 60 mph and all the sudden it's like the car shuts off, slowing to about 45. As I push on gas it does nothing then about 3 seconds later jerks back up and then repeats. It does this now everytime I am traveling. Besides giving me whiplash, it is dangerous because it could definitely cause a crash. My brake lights have been replaced 5 times in two years. Also there is always a loud clicking noise when driving. It sounds awful.
Brake light burnt out also burnt the light fixture. Dealer said this was a problem so they changed the brake light piece on the harness and the fixture. But the didnt recall it. So if you order another light harness it won't fit because of the change. Smh now air bag light came on while driving down road. Now riding without brake light. I've seen so many of the same without 1 brake light smh. Guess same problem!
This is a common problem I see in these cars. The taillights melt and melt the housing causing a fire hazard and collision hazard due to no brake lights
Car hesitates under acceleration while driving. Does it on road and freeway. Break lights are always going out have to replace every other week possibly have problems with wire harness. Shocks and struts started making noise right before the 60,000 mile mark wears off tire because of it. Car started having similar problems early on when I bought the car at around 12,000 miles for the acceleration. Break light problems around 60,000 miles suspension around the same time. Have had the engine replace twice on this car. And currently in the shop again.

For the third time now I was pulled over on the freeway for having a tail light out on my 2012 Hyundai Sonata. No matter how many times I replace the bulbs they just keep blowing. I haven't received a ticket yet from any of these occurrences, thank god, but I'm sure eventually... I am starting to fear I am going to be somewhere at night and someone is going to hit me. This cannot be normal for my year Hyundai.
1)my engine locked up because the oil light never turn on I had on knowledge of engine problems until today. 2)my head lights are dim. 3)the radio turns off and on by it self
The complete brake light panels-"taillights" on both sides of the back of the car (2012 Sonata) - is completely out. (back driver and passenger taillight panels) all the wiring that carrys electricial to the back taillights are melted / completely worped / fused together and blown out. All the burnt wiring has disfigured and melted the inside of the tail light panels (in the trunk) so the bulbs or wires can not be replaced and functionable. Fyi: It carrys the smell of the burnt wiring and plastic. My 2012 Sonata has "no electricial wires" that are functionable to connect the tail lights on either side in the back of the car. The dealership has tried to fix the bulbs and connection 2 times but nothing works- it continues to blow out & melt...this problem needs to be recalled the "tail lights, all wiring to the taillights, fuses and anything that is connected with the electrical for the tail lights." This will catch fire in the trunk or worse!
The gas gauge is not displaying correctly. The vehicle shows empty even after I have filled it up with gas. It also fluctuates randomly. This happens in all settings when the vehicle is stationary or moving.
After having every recall imaginable including the replacement of my engine recently after it stalled while driving down one of the busiest highways in las vegas, I am stunned that the steering column and the electrical for the brakes hasn't been recalled yet. My steering column is clicking and making noises that have increased in the volume of the sound and it does this every single time I turn the wheel. I see others have already had this fail in their 2012 Sonatas entirely and previous years of my exact vehicle for the same issues have been recalled. I drive a three year old around frequently and I am afraid that soon my column will completely detach itself and cause an accident. I see other consumers have had to pay to have it fixed out of pocket at low mileage as well. Clearly we cannot all be misusing our vehicles. Previous Sonata models have also had the exact same safety recalls for these exact same problems that we are seeing now in this specific year and still they choose to deny it is their fault. My miles aren't even 70,000 yet. I have also replaced my left rear brake light 4 times now, how many more times will I have to do this before I am hit by someone or before someone else's brake lights fail and they end up in an accident that could be fatal? I have already been pulled over for having a tail light out that I had just replaced a week prior. This year make and model should just be recalled and scrapped entirely and owners given their money back. I had a seatbelt recall that was then later on recalled again!! I mean come on Hyundai!
Tail lights/ brake lights continuously burnout. I have replaced the bulbs on both the right and left sides over 10 times since purchasing the vehicle. The bulb is at times so hot it's melting the plastic casing that it sits in.
Hyundai Sonata 2012 brake lights go out every 2 months. I've replaced both brake lights 3 times then took it to dealership O'brien fort myers, fl. Brake light was changed out again in February or March 2019. My right brake light is now out again.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the rear tail lights had an internal electrical short and contained rust and corrosion. Also, the sockets melted on both sides of the rear tail lights. The rear passenger side light had to be removed to prevent the middle rear brake light from remaining illuminated. The rear driver's side tail light was operable, but eventually shorted out as well. The contact ordered replacement tail lights three times, but the failure recurred each time. In addition, the contact heard a loud noise concerning the fuel system. When turning the steering wheel in either direction, the contact heard an abnormal noise intermittently. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 18V137000 (seat belts and air bags) and 18V934000 (engine, fuel system, gasoline); however, the contact did not receive any notifications. Mcgrath city Hyundai (6750 w grand ave, Chicago, il 60707, (773) 889-9090) was contacted, but had not diagnosed or repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
Tail lights remain on even when car is turned off keys out of ignition and light switch is off... tail lights remain on when car is on and running in drive the tail lights remain on giving cars behind me false sense that I'm breaking

This is an ongoing problem, the plastic that the tail light bulb is attached to is melting and I have had to replace the tail light casing already recently. Since the replacement, I replaces a bulb and the plastic is starting to look burned again. Two weeks since I replaced that bulb, the light is out again.everytime I have this problem my check engine light comes on. After a few days it goes off. When I take call the dealer they said if the light goes off they cannot check the problem, this problem started about 3 years after I got this car and now my check engine light is on again and will not go off.the driver side airbag light is alway on since a year ago. No accident. Looks like there are a lot of similar issues with Sonata
I'm not even sure what all recalls are there anymore however this is the car I love to hate... break wires keep melting car is now burning oil apparently and there is no reason or leak the engine is knocking now... absolutely love my car but I believe she will leave me stranded soon on top of what ever happened with the break light staying on randomly reduced my driving speed nearly causing me an accident
