Sonata

Cars brake lights are continuously lit even when engine and driver has turned off the vehicle and left. The dealership said that that is a big problem with the Sonatas. They called the problem tsb/stop lamp switch. This vehicle has the same problem either stationary, moving or engine & key turned off. It also shows signs of engine hesitation when first moving.

Brake lights are stuck on all the time. Pulling up firmly on the brake pedal turns the brake light off, but it turns back on as soon as I stop pulling up on it.

Last night after parking, my break lights remained lit. My father and I both checked either anything inside was depressing the brake pedal, and the emergency break was not engaged. I drove about 20 miles to work the next morning (lights still on). Parked at work, lights stayed on. I was driving on highway and tried to accelerate around 50 mph. Car braked/decelerated instead of accelerating. I exited highway immediately and pulled into a neighborhood. I am able to pull the lever to change into R/N/D without pressing the brake down (you should have to press break first before switching). I know this was a recall issue for elantras and Sonatas at some point, but I don't believe it included my cars year. There have been so many recall things, it seems maybe Hyundai just makes faulty products. 2012 Hyundai Sonata. 78,000 miles. Traction light also illuminated while driving this am, but perhaps unrelated as it was foggy and so maybe slippery?

I was traveling on the highway and had just entered the the exit ramp lane. I was in the process of de-accelerating because I was close to the exit ramp. I had ample space in between the car in front of me and myself. The car in front of me rapidly stopped and I hit my brakes hard to prevent crashing. When I hit my brakes hard, my brakes locked up and I did not have control of the vehicle. It felt like I was sliding on ice. Since I was not able to stop, I skidded into the car in front of me causing significant damage to my car. My car was deemed totaled by insurance. If my brakes were working correctly, there would have never been so much damage because I did have ample time to stop. In addition, I had just had all new brake and rotors put on my brakes within the last two weeks of the accident. My front brakes were done within the year of the accident.

Hello. So I am driving Hyundai Sonata 2012 since February 2015. I bough it used with approximately 42000 miles. When I bough a car I didn't pay attention but realized that braking on low speeds downhill or on flat surface - brakes would go all the way down to the floor. At around 55000 miles I replaced front brake pads and rotors and did brake fluid change, and then later I replaced rear brake pads and rotors. The issues still is there. At 107000 miles I recently changed again front pads and rotors and the problem still exists. The dealer said that it it fault hecu unit. I saw that there is recall #13V489000 for Hyundai genesis with what appears like exact same problem. Is there a chance that my vehicle is affected by that recall" or that you have some complains from other owners or current investigation on this matter"

While driving and pressing the accelerator it acts as if its not getting any gas, so when I remove my foot and repress it, it moves right along. It has happened 2 times in the last 24 hours. Now, I exited the car and went into the house and the brake lights are still on.

I believe my car has been affected by the NHTSA campaign number: 15V759000 brake pedal stopper pad deterioration I have noticed that when the brake pedal is not being pressed, the brake lights do come on and stay illuminated preventing accurate communication to rearward following vehicles that the vehicle is slowing or stopping. Additionally, I have been able to shift the the transmission out of park without depressing the brake pedal. Lastly, when this all occurs while driving my vehicle loses power as off I am pressing the break. This has occurred while driving on the street, highway and while turning.

The driver experienced a stalled engine while driving. The brakes failed to respond and the steering wheel locked up. The car coasted, despite repeated braking attempts, and jumped a curb and stopped when it ran over onto a person's lawn. The driver attempted to steer and stop multiple times. As a consequence, the two driver side tires blew out. The car will be towed to a dealer. A police report was issued.

My break light was stayin on even after I removed my foot off the break pad.I noticed a small. Rubber break stopper fall off the break pad.I took my car to the Hyundai dealer to see if there was a recall on my car which they stated 'no',and I ended up paying $152.31 for the fix which has a guarantee for as long as I own my car if it happens again.I recently checked my credit on credit karma which show my information as owner of the 2012 Sonata and it shows the break light recall which I was correct when I noticed the problem.and it show on my credit karma as not done as yet.I have receipt of proof that they did the job and charged me the $152.31 which I was not supposed to pay as it is a recall.my wife noticed that the break light stayed on when the car was shut off.it was fixed on April 30th 2018.I complained about it being a recall but they denied it.I found out it was a recall through my credit karma and VIN number.

Arriving at busy intersect when accelerators and brakes ceased to work all dash lights began flashing and I was fortunate enough for light to be green and was able to coast to a stop at shoulder through intersection w flashers and horn blowing ! I restarted car and pulled into a local business w a clunking noise!! was told by my mechanic who has regularly serviced this vehicle that it was the engine ! why brake/acceleration not working ?? I was told he's had 3 other Sonatas in this month that 'just burned up all the oil ' without a light on or anything. I could have been on S busy highway and killed in addition to risk to others.

I have to change my bulbs every other month it seems like because my brake/tail lights keep burning out.. also my emergency brake light on my dash will not turn off now. I took my car in last week for engine recall and now my emergency park light will not turn off. Mechanic checked brake fluids and it was fine, but I didn't have this issue before I dropped my car off for repairs.

Takata recall I was driving in carrolton, ga one evening and was pulled over by an officer and was told both of my brake lights stopped working at or around the same time he gave me until Nov. 27th, 2018 to get them fixed. I was at first replacing the bulbs and they would burn out. I started calling around to different shops to get them fixed and they were all telling me the same thing. That is has become very common with my car( Hyundai Sonata) and that I had to replace the whole system. I found out that is what I have to do and a total of $500 to get both done. I missed my due date to get thwm fixed because it wasnt a simple replace the light bulb fixed and required more money. If this is true why haven't there been a recall on the brake lights? brake lights are very important and unsafe if that are not working hence why it is against the law. If most lr all your cars are having this problem you should be the ones to fix this problem.

While driving in motion or after driving briefly after a complete stop. The emergency brake light may come on, or the actual brake lights would start to flicker for no reason. The rpms on the car would drop very low and then rise over 3000. The vehicle would then decelerate and not allow to go higher than 25 mph. The engine also makes a knocking noise. This has caused two near accidents, one being T-boned by another vehicle and another almost being hit in the rear of the vehicle by another vehicle. This has been stated to the local dealership at least twice and they state they cannot find anything wrong that would cause these issues. The vehicle has been taken to taylor Hyundai of augusta each time to be inspected.
