My engine locked up and they had to rebuild the engine. Ever since that, my ac hasn't been working and blows hot air and during the hot times, it blows cold air.

I have always loved the look of this year make and model and wanted one of these for a long time. To my disappointment come time to use the air conditioner on very hot days, it seems to blow unusually warm air, accompanied with a slight odor coming from the vents. The issue is bad enough that while at a stand still, it blows such warm air, that the temperature within the vehicle becomes almost unbearable and I am forced to roll the windows down until I can get going. Once the vehicle is in constant motion, the a/c works like a charm. I took into consideration that the car is jet black with all black interior, but even in the shade, still the same issue. Every once and a while when what I can assume is the compressor kicking on, a loud moaning sound can be heard through the dashboard and even heard over the air conditioner blowing at full blast. Very disappointed to say the least because I love the look of the car and it's fun to drive but I will probably be a one time Hyundai owner. No more Hyundai after this one.

Sonata ES 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,000 miles

I'm going tomorrow morning to have it looked at by the dealership.

The air blows HOT but it is 110 degrees outside. I always get the worst and highest cost to fix anything. I am sure I will be told it is not covered under warranty!! I had the engine replaced (recall) could this be part of that problem?

I called the dealership when my brand new Hyundai Sonata 2012 air conditioner was blowing hot air less than 6 months after I bought the car. I was told someone would call me back from Keffer Hyundai in Charlotte, NC. Never received a call back. I parked my car and went to the gym for an hour, when I started my car the air worked. I mentioned this when I took my car to Keffer Hyundai for servicing. I was told that they can't do anything if the car isn't doing it while at the dealership and that I should have contacted them. I told the young guy that I had called and never received a call back. He said sorry that was probably me. My car's air conditioner has blown hot over a half a dozen times since I bought it. My sister took it to Keffer Hyundai to have them check out the air conditioner and was told that is just how that year model air conditioner system works. Really if their car was blowing hot air in 90 degree weather would they consider that working????!!!!
