CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2011 Sonata has a seriously defective engine that seizes without warning. It was awarded the dubious honor of being the first CarTalk / CarComplaints Turd of the Week in late September 2015.
A class action lawsuit was filed in May 2015 against Hyundai that claims the 2.4L Sonata engine is defective. More info here.
I had this problem in 2013, where, I get this burning smell, coming from the car. Then I hear clicking sounds coming from the stick shift. And I put my car in reverse, and my dashboard goes blank. It was a transmission switch sensor, that had a shortage. it's only been three years, since this happen, Damn you tell me Hyundai sensor, parts don't last longer than three years.
I had two recalls done just a week ago and now my engine light comes on and my car doesn't want to move in drive or reverse. After getting this repaired my engine light came back on again and I took it back and now they are saying it is something to do with the manifold. I'm just upset because I don't have the money to keep putting into fixing this car like this. I don't understand why these issues are coming up back to back like this after my recalls were done.
