CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2011 Sonata has a seriously defective engine that seizes without warning. It was awarded the dubious honor of being the first CarTalk / CarComplaints Turd of the Week in late September 2015.
A class action lawsuit was filed in May 2015 against Hyundai that claims the 2.4L Sonata engine is defective. More info here.
Power Steering went out....next day then took to local dealer....but then steering worked......paid $185 to diagnose......Says there is a fault code showing up...suggested to replace part for $1600. Part needs to be ordered because it is not in stock...Well since it worked....i drove it another 5000 miles & then it went out again.
Dealer says it is a "safety" issues but I still have to pay for the part. In California the Lemon laws apply, I need a good attorney to get my $$$ back... If it is a safety issue because steering can lock up--it should be covered by the best warranty in the business.
