2011 Hyundai Sonata is very unsafe. I have had to have brake light recall fixed at least 3 times and the brake lights are still going out. The horn has completely gone out. The engine shuts off at random times leaving me stranded in unsafe situations. The takata airbags still have not been replaced. Car is very unsafe to drive; Hyundai needs to buy back all these vehicles.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While the contact was approaching a yellow traffic light, the preceding vehicle accelerated and then made a sudden stop. As a result, the contact rear ended the other vehicle while driving 55 mph. None of the air bags deployed. The contact's head struck the steering wheel upon impact. The contact sustained pain to the knees, elbows, and minor bruising. Medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The insurance company repaired the collision damages, but there was no investigation as to why the air bags failed to deploy. Months later, the air bag indicator illuminated and, a few days later, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17V152000 (seat belts). The dealer was to schedule an appointment and indicated that the contact would need to have a diagnosis prior to the recall repair. The manufacturer was later notified of the crash and recently stated that the notice was received after the crash; therefore, the contact was waiting to determine if the manufacturer would assist. The failure mileage was not available. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled several times. There had been multiple failures concerning the six manufacturer recalls that the vehicle was included in, and the contact was uncertain of when the dealer would provide a remedy and the parts. The steering wheel made an abnormal noise and the engine had an internal failure, in which metal fragments were released, and there was a loss of oil. The contact was unable to determine what caused the oil to lower and the premature failure of the engine. The engine assembly was replaced by an independent mechanic. The dealer had been unclear as to when the remedy and parts would be available. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 16V190000 (steering), 17V152000 (seat belts), 15V759000 (service brakes, hydraulic), 15V568000 (engine), 14V433000 (service brakes, hydraulic) and 10V457000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was not available.

Sometimes it doesnt latch at all. All in the parked status. There is nothing "stuck" in the buckles. Passenger side seat belt latch intermittently fails to latch. It partially latches but if you pull it pops out. Need to insert about 4 to 5 times and tug to confirm it holds. This was checked by Hyundai service center on 10/8/15 and they stated this was not a warranty item although no external damage was a result of failure.

I was rear ended while at a stop by a large truck that was going 40 mph. My airbags didn't deploy, which didn't surprise me, but my seatbelt did not properly engage. When I was rearended, I went forward and my head hit something, possible the steering wheel. The seatbelt finally engaged and strapped me back to the seat. Due to the failure of engagement, and my head hitting an object, I sustained a substantial concussion due to the head trauma and have post concussion syndrome which is greatly effecting me at home and at work.
