The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated when the vehicle was started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed due to the service charge fee. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle may be included in a recall for the air bags (perhaps pertaining to the clockspring). If so, the manufacturer advised the contact to call them and they would send someone to the dealer. Case number: 10207834 was provided. The NHTSA campaign number was not provided. The failure mileage was 59,900.

However, front air bag activated and instantly caught fire and deflated causing head to strike steering wheel. Rear passenger air bags did not activate on either side of vehicle. Burn hole in front air bag is the size of a silver dollar.
