CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2011 Sonata has a seriously defective engine that seizes without warning. It was awarded the dubious honor of being the first CarTalk / CarComplaints Turd of the Week in late September 2015.
A class action lawsuit was filed in May 2015 against Hyundai that claims the 2.4L Sonata engine is defective. More info here.
I took the car to two different mechanics. I even asked a Hyundai dealership, on two different times, to look at it when I took my car in for oil change and such. The dealership told me the first time they forgot to check it and the next time they didn't have time to check it. Both mechanics told me there wasn't a blown fuse, nor did they find any loose or frayed wiring. One mechanic stated when he began to search, he did find there's a recall regarding malfunctioning radios for my car; but, I couldn't find it. What's up??? I have cds that have been stuck in the player because the radio just stopped coming on. IT DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Hyundai has been good with regards to fixing recalls. I need this fixed.
