The contact owns a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. After calling AAA, the technician determined the vehicle had run out of gasoline however, the instrument panel was reading a half tank. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the instrument panel. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 184,500.
