There was no slow breakdown. It was sudden and without any warning, I was stuck and had no choice but replacement of entire ignition switch. Tried for several days and backup keys before towing to shop.

Is very frustrating when you are paying for a car that suddenly stops working and no manufacturer cares to take care of the problem unless they are sued for it. They only care about making money. I called to see if their was a recall on these and they said no but their was another recall and nobody cared to notify me, they said that if I wasn't the first owner they wouldn't have my address( lie), but then when I proceed to give them my address they tell me that that is not what they have in record. Hold on, you just told me you didn't have it, that's why you couldn't send me the recall information, bunch of lairs.

Hope someone is making note of this because my car is not the first one with this problem, is all over the internet. Wake up and honor your cars.

Sonata Sedan 2.4L

I drove home Saturday afternoon and put my car in park and shut it off as usual. Later on that evening I had an event to attend so I got in my car and put my key in the ignition and it wouldn't turn. I noticed the steering wheel was locked so I turned it to the left and tried turning it again. Still, I got nothing. I wiggled and wiggled and wiggled the steering wheel while trying to turn the key in the ignition. Still, I got nothing. I called CarMax where I had bought my car and they could not tell me what the problem is and they are booked up on appointments for 2 weeks. I then called Hyundai dealership of South Charlotte and they also do not know what the problem is. Needless to say I have to take it to the shop to get diagnosed!

I was looking online to see if this problem has occurred to anyone else and I found complaints of others and most do not know what in the world has happened and the dealers does not know either. If anyone knows a quick fix to this please let me know so I can possibly save a couple hundred bucks.
