On September 23,2016, I was driving home to Illinois from Florida. Out of the blue, my cruise control started revving up my car uncontrollably while driving on flat highway. I tried hitting the brakes, and disengaging cruise control to no avail. Suddenly there was a popping sound under the car and something flew out behind us, then the car decelerated slowly allowing me to pullover to the side of the road while people were driving past telling us we were on fire. A few seconds after my son and I exited the car it was totally engulfed in flames in the front. After finally making it home, I contacted Hyundai and the dealership that sold me the car and was told that there is no proof that what happened had anything to do with a defect in manufacturing so tough luck to me. They also refuse to recall the 2008 Sonatas or do an investigation on why their cruise controls go out of control.
If anyone knows of a good attorney I could contact in order to force the issue, I would be most appreciative. These autos are a danger to the public. Does someone actually have to die before they are held accountable? Not if I have anything to say about it.
