2007 Sonata with 37,000 miles. Check engine light and ESC light come on and car goes into limp mode. Extremely unsafe. Happens randomly. Have to pull over because car won't accelerate. Car needs to be shut off and turned back on. Code P2135 and P2106.

2007 Hyundai Sonata 3.3L throttle positioning sensor failure. Failure causes car to go into limp mode not exceeding 20mph. Failure can occur at high speeds. Cels reported are P2135, P2106, P1295. Fix includes an update to PCM and a new throttle positioning sensor. PCM update can only be done at dealership and is required for correcting.

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. While driving approximately 45 mph the check engine light began illuminating on the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was told that the oil sensor needed to be cleaned. The vehicle was repaired. The failure continued to occur; however, an authorized dealer advised her that the oil sensor needed to be replaced. The oil sensor was replaced but the failure recurred. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 93,000. The VIN was unavailable.

2007 engine tap on 3.3 Hyundai Sonata when starting seems Hyundai used a paper oil filter design rather than a spin off possibly engineers failed to include a oil check valve to stop the oil from draining outof the engine, engine taps for 5-10 seconds until oil gets up to motor.

-the contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. The contact had his vehicle repaired according to recall# 08V161000 (air bags). After the repair he noticed that when an occupant sits in the right passenger seat, the front air bag does not detect the presence of an adult. The manufacturer was notified, and a representative concluded that they are unaware of how to remedy the failure. The failure and current mileages were 35,000. Updated 11/23/09 the idler pulley bearing was replaced in the engine. Updated 11/24/09.
