I have taken my vehicle into a Hyundai dealer and told them about the noise my car was making and them to check it out.. I was told they found no problem, but the noise continued. I took it back before my warranty expired and told them about the same noise and nothing was done. I took it in three weeks ago complained about the same noise and a diagnostic check was done. Now they tell me the problem is the timing chain and it needs to be replaced, at a cost of nearly $3,000.00. However, the kicker is that the repair would have been covered under the warranty.
You might guess that I am royally pissed-off. I do not intend to take this sitting down. I have people to speak with and letters to write in order to get this problem resolved. Any suggestion you have is highly welcomed. I was about to have my son purchase a Hyundai, but you can kiss that goodbye. I spoke with another very good mechanic who told me the design of these car have an ongoing problem with the timing chains on these cars and the manufacturer is well aware of the problem, but has done nothing to correct the problem. If anyone else is having this problem, please write about it and let me know. It will be greatly appreciated.
