I live in the Maritime Provinces of Canada where a lot of salt is used on the roads. I would say that this is the reason the oil pan has rotted out although I have never encountered this problem in any car I have owned and I have owned 20 cars in the last 43 years. The oil pan appears to be made out of a metal that is a little thicker than aluminum foil. I'm surprised it holds its shape with oil in it. I believe the company should replace the pan at their cost.
I have already replaced the rear suspension parts that rotted out at the companies expense and for that I say thank you and you probably saved yourself a lawsuit. The oil pan problem showed itself by messing up my garage floor, otherwise I may not have found this problem until the engine seized. Outside of the fact that the engine no longer holds oil, it is a good motor and I caught the trouble before the motor burned up.
If anyone in the complaint department for Hyundai Canada happens to read this, maybe there is recall I don't know about or maybe just in the name of good corporate citizenship Hyundai would help me out here. Thank you although I won't hold my breath while waiting for a reply.
