The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the exterior rear driver and passenger side door handles were detached. The interior rear passenger side door handle was also detached. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 103,533.
The door handles on both rear seat passenger doors have broken off inside the door. They broke approximately where the linkage attaches to the handle. The front passenger handle is acting different than it use to now also. As of this weekend the front drivers handle are acting different also! this appears to be a manufacturing /design issue and not an abuse or vandalism issue.
This is the second door handle that has come off in the last 6months. I am not understanding why this the case. A friend of mine has a 10yr old elantra and none of her handles have come off. This car is only 6 yrs old.
Three out of my four door handles have fallen off of my vehicle. The first two fell off while the vehicle was under warranty. The third recently fell off and I had to pay for labor to have it repaired. I feel this should be a recall as the part that holds the door handle on is obviously faulty and I don't feel I should be responsible for the cost of the repair or labor.
