I have a 2003 Hyundai Sonata. There was a recall for the chrome coming off the interior door handles which when peels will cut your hands pretty severely. I almost needed stitches it cut my fingers so deep. I currently have them taped and cannot let my grand children ride in the car. I was told by Hyundai that the cut off was March 2003 and our car was built on May 20 2003 so we missed the cut off date by 2 months. It is hard to believe that they know for a fact that the cut off date was March 2003 when there are other instances about this.
I have contacted the NHTSA to see if there is anything I can do about it. I also plan to get in touch with the highest person I can with Hyundai and I am seriously considering contacting Channel 2 news about it to see what they will do if I am told they are not going to cover this. This is a serious issue by not being able to open or close your doors with the handles without razor edge places cutting your hands.
This is just plain ridiculous on Hyundai's part. Not sure if anyone else has this issue but if you do, you need to bring this to their attention.
