The contact owns a 2002 Hyundai Sonata. While driving approximately 55 mph on normal road conditions, the air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel unexpectedly. The warning indicator remained lit until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic on two separate occasions for identical failures, but there were no resolutions. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 51,000 and the current mileage was unavailable. Updated 03/09/09. The consumer also stated the seat belt light illuminated. Updated 03/11/09.
