Was driving down the highway with no other vehicles in front or to the side of me when I heard a loud bang/pop. Initially I thought a bird or a stone had hit the windshield but did not see anything coming at me, nor behind when I checked my mirrors to see if there was anything around me. When I returned home I found the front glass strip about 6-8 inches high that sits between the front windshield and the moon roof was completely shattered. I had to use duct tape to hold it all together for fear of the glass falling into the car. When I called two dealerships in my area (Newmarket and Aurora) both said they'd never heard of such a thing, yet I have found numerous postings online and even a class action lawsuit against Hyundai for the same issue. There is even a facebook group dedicated to this issue for Hyundai vehicles.

I am trying to the Hyundai to cover all the costs to repair this. The Aurora service dept rep is (so far) quite empathetic and has sent all my photos and documentation I've found online to Hyundai Canada, saying it will take a couple of weeks to hear back. In the meantime, I don't want to drive on the highway or with any significant speeds for fear the glass will fall out completely, or worse, land on me while I'm driving.
