Hyundai of America said this isn't related to the recall notices we were getting, and it isn't covered. This vehicle ran fine, then I heard a knocking sound. The vehicle made a loud bang while I was on the freeway and then there wasn't any power when I pressed the gas pedal. There was so much smoke I couldn't see anyone behind me and then I saw FLAMES in my rear view mirror. I got over and stopped, got my daughter out of the vehicle and smoke started pouring through the vents. Once the car was off, the fire stopped and I presume it was coming through the exhaust.
This happened June 5th and Hyundai of America claims this isn't a recall issue. The Hyundai dealership is unable to answer WHY this happened AND to top it all off, my insurance said it isn't covered.
I'm just glad my daughter and I made it out safely but now I have 22k left on it, without a vehicle. Hyundai dealership said there aren't any engines available to replace it used OR remanufactured. I will never buy a Hyundai/Kia and risk my safety again. They don't even back the product!!! NEVER AGAIN! I will tell everyone I know to not buy Kia/Hyundai based on this issue and lack of response.
