in November of 2018 my 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe with 47,286 miles stopped running while driving on the highway it was towed to the dealer that informed me I would need a new engine. First they did not want to grant me a loaner for the first week and a half until I contacted the corporate office, then they had my car from November to January waiting for the "engine to come from Korea" so they say.
When I first got it back I told my husband the steering wheel felt off he turned it back and forth and said "it seemed fined" in July my husband was driving the truck and said "it was making a clicking noise from the steering wheel." He took it back to the dealer because it had a recall on it and he inquired about the noise and they told him "it would cost $125 to look at it" and low and behold the steering column needs to be replaced which cost $1,500.00. I don't know if it is because they did something when they installed the new engine or it was just not good from the beginning.
Why should a 5yr, old car with normal wear and tear back and forth to work and shopping need a new steering column. After doing some research I found these Hyundai Santa Fe's have had complaints about the steering columns.
