My car was hesitating when I would accelerate. I wasn't sure what the issue was and it was not due for an oil change, but I took it to an oil change place anyways. It turns out it was consuming a lot of oil and was almost empty when I took it in even though the indicator light never went on!
I decided to google the issue and found out there is a recall for oil leaks. I called Hyundai and told them what happened and they told me I need to bring it in every 150 miles to determine if there is a leak and my car model and year are not covered. 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. I did not take it in because the dealership is about 25 miles away and appointments are really hard to get! That is another frustration!
For a few months time I was experiencing only high oil consumption, so I decided to be careful and check frequently. At times it seems like the oil is burning at a higher rate and at times it seems fine. I have been checking and adding as needed.
Well just a couple of days ago, I noticed oil spots on my driveway. So now I think it has progressed to a noticeable leak. I am afraid to drive my car. There is no coverage for this issue and the recall doesn't cover my model and year even though I am having an issue with my car that others are reporting as well. At this point, I am hoping for a miracle. I will be taking the car to a local shop in a week and a half (the soonest appointment they had)
This is my third Hyundai and the one I kept the longest, but I will not buy this any Hyundai or Kia cars again. I am just so bummed about this and really hope they will expand the recall or that enough people will complain to get us a class action lawsuit.
