I recently had to brake hard in my 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe due to a chain of vehicles in front of me slamming brakes. I was approximately two car lengths behind the vehicle in front of me. We all were already slowing down so I was lightly compressing the brakes to stop slowly when the car in front of me slammed on brakes and I did as well. I was going about 25-30 mph and already slowing down steadily when I slammed on brakes. I did not feel the pumping that happens when ABS functions and the wheels completely locked up. The Santa Fe skidded about two car lengths, hits the car in front of me and caused $7500 in damage to the Santa Fe. I don't usually complain but I am nervous to get this vehicle back. I loved everything else about this vehicle, but I know what it feels like when ABS engages and that did not happen. Even the driver in front of me was shocked because of how far I skidded. It was almost like hydroplaning but the road was dry.
