The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe equipped with kumho solus KL21 tires, size: 235/55 R19 (na). The contact purchased four new tires from the kumho manufacturer. The contact indicated that the rear passenger side tire had cracks and tread separation. The tire was replaced by an independent tire repair facility. In addition, the front and rear passenger side tires both experienced blow outs due to the cracks and tread separation. The contact further stated that when all three tires failed, the inner tread walls were cracked with extensive tread separation. The replacement rear passenger tire and the front passenger tire were taken to a tire facility for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failures to determine if the passenger side tires could be replaced with two new tires. The VIN, vehicle failure mileage, and tire failure mileage were not available.
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe equipped with Continental crosscontact LX tires, size: P235/65R17. While making left or right turns, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the front tires. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the tires showed tread separation and needed to be replaced. The tire was replaced with the same make and model tire; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 13V624000 (tires). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate tire and vehicle failure mileage was 41,950.
