CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe has a problem with the engine stalling while driving. Both our data & the NHTSA's complaint data show a significant defect trend at low mileage.
In a 2-page letter sent August 2014 to Santa Fe owners, Hyundai claims the engine stalling only occurs under a "specific set of operating conditions".
However a class action lawsuit filed around the same time details multiple claims from Sante Fe owners that claim the engine stalling happens at any time, under any conditions.
Oil pressure sender failure results in flooding top of engine cavity with oil resulting in potential engine fire.
If you see oil running from the bottom transmission bell housing drain hole, have this switch replaced. This is a very expensive job because you have to take intake manifold off to get at it.
This failure has happened to me for the THIRD time now. 1st time I took it to Hyundai dealership. They lied their way out of fixing it while it was under warranty, blaming me for not getting the oil changes done at their place. So I had to get it fixed at a third party. 2nd time it failed I had it replaced and contacted Hyundai. Of course they were very helpful - Not.
Third time is now and it's currently at a repair shop getting another $1000 check from me.
