CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe apparently has a problem with the engine stalling while driving.
In a 2-page letter to Santa Fe owners from August 2014, Hyundai claims the engine stalling only occurs under a "specific set of operating conditions".
However a class action lawsuit filed around the same time details multiple claims from Sante Fe owners that claim the engine stalling happens at any time, under any conditions.
Although the model year range in the lawsuit is 2010-2012, the stalling complaint trend hasn't shown up in our data for the 2010 model year. Both the 2011 & 2012 Santa Fe model years DO show a significant defect trend of the engine stalling.
Currently we're not rating the 2010 Santa Fe as "bad" or "poor". Just be aware of this potentially serious problem.

We own a 2010 Santa Fe Hyundai our gas gauge drops down to E. We took to dealer to fix. They hooked it up to see problem and couldn't find anything. The service guy said he thought he knew what the problem was but couldn't fix it without a code from whatever they hook it up to that shows the problem. Now we paid for extra warranty coverage. Then he tells us that Hyundai won't let them fix a problem without a code number coming up on whatever the machine they hook it up to prints it out.
Also to wait till check engine light comes on and take it to Auto Zone for a report. Problem is my check engine light does not come on. And we still have the problem. This is so annoying. My next step is to try dealership again and then Channel 4 news reporter to complain about having a warranty and the dealer won't honor it. I've seen online that other car owners have this problem. If my vehicle doesn't get fixed and soon I will demonstrate in front of Hyundai till I receive news coverage so the public will know that Hyundai does not honor their warranty agreements . Also the problem, thanks to Car Complaints.com, is the fuel level sensor a check intermittent?
