I own a white 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe . For the passed year the paint on the fount of the car started peeling off. Called Hyundai, they said bring it to Island Hyundai on Staten island. so I did and they took pictures and said someone would contact me. t They never called. I called them. they said there was nothing they could do because I was out of the warranty[149000] miles on the car. I explained to them this was a primer defect and they know its an ongoing problem. [class action lawsuit in California] .THEY DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY. Anyone with the same problem should contact Hyundai because this is a nationwide defect with this car.

Pearl white paint flaking off hood and fenders and around windshield. Took it to paint shop. They repainted using paint code. It didn't match. I now have a pearly white rear and a creamy white front.

The car was not painted correctly and even though a Hyundai certified paint technician determined that the problem was caused by a manufacturing defect. Hyundai still refuses to correct the problem.

The paint just flakes off, as if the metal wasn't prepped correctly. I just read about the class action in California, can it be extended to other states.. Can't afford to repaint car. It has been very good other than the paint.

I just found out I am not the only one experiencing this problem. I am not surprised Hyundai will not stand behind their their problem. And the judge who dismissed the lawsuit must have gotten paid off!! How can you dismiss this suit when so many people are having the exact same problem. Like Trump says ( it really is rigged ). Now the paint is peeling all over. The windshield, the roof, the sides.

I will never buy another Hyundai again. And am telling everyone I know about it. My next step will be to call the newspapers, the better business bureau, the television stations, and anyone else I can think of who will listen. I might even make a sign and stand in front of the Hyundai dealership to let people know not to buy a Hyundai!!!!!!!

The hood on my 2009 Santa Fe is starting to peel a little more every day. It started with a slight bubble and then the peel. After a long road trip the peeling only accelerated in various spots and is now along the whole edge. If there is a class action suit I'd be happy to join. I am retired and on a fixed income so repainting may not be an option but the value of the car is going down as the amount of peeling goes up.

Paint started to peel on rear hatch in middle first then front window bar. Peels right down to metal without even touching it. I can't take to car wash since any strong stream of water just makes it worse.

I have owned several cars in hot Florida. Purchased used a 2009 Santa Fe in 2012. Just over a year later, noticed the paint peeling. I have never seen paint just peel off, above the front windows and side of front window, and some on hood. Just looks bad,, and still no recall, as its obvious the manufacturer did a POOR job on this paint. Dealer had to know of this since I purchased used. I will not go back to this Hyundai dealer or any Hyundai because of this. I will be shopping soon.

The paint started peeling on our 2009 Pearl White Santa Fe hood of the vehicle. I noticed other 2009 same Santa Fe's with paint peeling same way.

There are many complaints and should be repainted by Hyundai.

This is delamination and root cause is paint process. But they told that this is from chipped paint and no warranty.

Update from Jul 27, 2016: Now my mileage is 139,660 mile and getting worse and getting bigger and wider. Now peeling on the hood, both A-pillar,roof, passenger side front and rear door. This is definitely delamination but all Hyundai dealer service is denying and keep saying this is stone chip. I'll never buy again any Hyundai car.

I have a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe pearl white paint peels off like wallpaper. I have it on Youtube under Hyundai Santa Fe scary, please watch. The paint flew onto my windshield and stuck. Hyundai did not send a regional rep out. They have had my car 3 weeks. Many emails but no phone call. Anyone wanting to do a class action suit... I'm in.

I WENT ON A ROAD TRIP BACK EAST THIS WEEK, AND WHEN I GOT OUT OF MY CAR FOR GAS I NOTICED A DIME SIZED CHIP OF PAINT GONE. THAN EVERY TIME I STOPPED FOR GAS ANOTHER ONE APPEARED. THERE ARE SIX DIME TO NICKEL SIZE CHIPS OF PAINT MISSING ON THE HOOD OF MY CAR. IT LOOKS LIKE CRAP. I CAN SEE BUBBLES BY THE CHIPPED AREAS. PEELED DONE TO THE GREEN BASE OR PRIMER. I WANT IT FIXED. ANY SUGGESTIONS
