Santa Fe 2.7L V8

Put gas in and within minutes it goes down drastically. Thought I was leaking gas but I wasn't. This should be a recall.

Santa Fe Limited

  • Automatic transmission
  • 88,700 miles

One day went and filled up the car with gas and when I turned the car back on the gas gauge stayed on empty. I re-started the car but the gas gauge did not move. In the last several months since this occurred the gas gauge is erratic moving up to full and back to empty on a whim. This has caused the check engine light to come on and stay on for the last few months. I refuse to spend the $600-800 the dealer is asking for to fix it.

Santa Fe Limited 3.3L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 106,000 miles

The fuel gauge quit showing the correct level. By research, found out it was a common issue with Santa Fe. Bought 2 new sending units (There are 2 on the Santa Fe) and replaced them myself. This is no small job, had to take out rear seats and cargo bins. Pull the Fuel Pumps out and replace the sending units. Not a hard job just involved, and had to deal with gas and careful it didn't get in the interior. PITA

When gas tank is filled, gas gauge registers half tank, gauge tiles up and down on occasions. Difficult to know how much gas is remaining. Should be a manufacture's recall ASAP, before somebody dies or gets stranded on lonely highway. RECALL! RECALL! RECALL !

Santa Fe GLS V6 2.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

FUEL GAUGE WOULD STOP WORKING SHOWING EMPTY EVEN THOUGH I HAD GAS IN IT. NEXT TIME I WOULD START IT IT WOULD SHOW ALMOST EMPTY, THEN IT WOULD SHOW 1/2 TANK. NOW IT ALWAYS SHOWS EMPTY WITH THE LIGHT ON, I HAVE TO TRACK MY GAS BY THE MILEAGE I USE. I SAW ALL THE COMPLAINS ABOUT THIS ONLINE AND HOW HYUNDAI IS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM. SHAME ON YOU HYUNDAI! THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM! NOT THE CONSUMER.

Santa Fe SE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 92,000 miles

So... I put 50$ worth of gas in the car and the next morning the gas gauge reads empty and the range indictor is blinking as though I am about to run out of gas. I commute over 25 miles and was in a panic thinking there might be a hole in the gas tank all the way to work. I looked online and found numerous complaint but no safety recall. Calling the dealer where I purchased the Santa Fe netted a smarmy a-hole told me it is not under warranty and would cost approx. 600$ to repair.

I feel as others who have experienced this that it is a safety issue that should be repaired at Hyundai's cost. I am loathe to recommend Hyundai in the future since they are not standing behind their product. Anyone have a solution to this?

Santa Fe LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,000 miles

Check engine light came on and gas gauge started acting erratically. The digital display of the miles left 'til fill up goes to the 3 dashes (indicates you have less than 30 miles til empty) when the tank is completely filled. I was told by dealer that it is a $600 fix. Seems like it's happening to a lot of Santa Fe owners.
