I had my car just over 3 month right at 38000 miles. I took it in for service and mentioned the paint peeling off of my hood. They said oh that is rock chips but at closer inspection he saw the paint was bubbly up and peeling, it kind of crackled away. I had 2 spots about the size of half dollars on either side of the center on my hood. They said because I was at 38000 miles it was out of warranty. I called corporate and they gave the same answer. I was so angry.
The spots continued to worsen over the years and then it began to peel around the windshield. It got bigger and bigger so I got automotive white spray paint to cover the spots but it too peeled off so now. It is 2018 the rear of my vehicle looks fine but the hood and front look awful its really embarrassing. No paint will even stick to it. Now it is just grey and where the paint didn't peel it is almost faded complete away. I am afraid to spend money to repaint it because I am afraid it will just peel off again.
The paint on the white Santa Fe's this age had this problem I have seen all other colors with no issues but I know when I see white ones they are just like mine. No recall yet but there should be this is not a one incident thing. So many were effected. I don't want to buy another Santa Fe even though I like my car because it bothers me so much. Paint is going to fade away if you have it long enough but just over 3 months is unacceptable.
